In Badaun, SP candidate Aditya Yadav won by securing 501006 votes. BJP’s Durvijay Singh Shakya lost by a margin of 35269 votes. Durvijay Singh Shakya got 465737 votes. BSP remained out of the main contest. It could not even save its deposit.

Counting of votes for Badaun parliamentary seat began at 8 am at Mandi Sthal. Trends started coming in from 9:30 am. Till the 14th round of counting, only the second round was the one in which SP was ahead. In the remaining 13 rounds, BJP took the lead but from the 15th round onwards the tables started turning.

Gunnaur-Sahaswan votes won the lottery

When the votes of the Yadav Muslim belt of Gunraur and Sahaswan were counted, SP hit the jackpot. Gradually, SP took the lead but till the end, BJP was unable to defeat it whereas BSP had lagged behind in the first round itself and remained at the third position till the last 33rd round. Muslim Khan of BSP got 97616 votes. He could not even save his deposit. To save his deposit, he needed one sixth of the total 1091764 votes, i.e. more than 181949 thousand votes, but he did not get that many votes.

There were a total of six candidates from different parties, including five independents and small and big parties. Thus, a total of 11 candidates were in the fray. This time, the BJP put in the maximum effort for its party candidates. From the PM to the CM, everyone came forward. The Home Minister and the Chief Ministers of Uttarakhand and Madhya Pradesh also campaigned for the elections but could not ensure victory.
